Miles: 4.72
Start/End: Waterville Valley TH
Elevation gain/loss: 2220′
After an early morning jaunt up the Osceolas and packing up our Russell Pond campsite, me and two other friends headed over to Waterville Valley. We took Tripoli Rd, which was very bumpy and not well traveled in a few sections, but made it around without incident.
We took our time on the ascent, chatting as we went. The bugs provided us with motivation to keep moving more quickly than we would have otherwise. Towards the top, there were sections with enough wind that we could rest without being mobbed by bugs, but at the summit, it was mildly miserable so we didn’t linger. The descent was relaxed and we quickly made it back to our cars. Our timing worked out very well – the handful of groups we met were on their way out as we headed in, so it was quieter than Tecumseh can be in summer.
