I was up at 5:05am; ready by 5:35, and then spent 10 minutes at the potable water faucet, washing my socks and doing a little wipe-down.
I met Sunflower and Blueberry (hiked the PCT to Ashland last year, section hiking the final section now), Socks (OR section hike); as well as a trail maintainer with a chainsaw and two dogs. There were an increase in the downed trees today, so more climbing over things.
The heat got to me a bit today, and I wilted in the heat. When I stopped to filter water for the last time of the day by Highway 140, I was delighted to find a small stash of sodas. They were just stacked next to the trail, but I was happy to pack out a root beer to supplement my dinner.
I finished at 7:20pm, at a campsite shared with 2 other people. I quickly set up my tent to have refuge from the thirsty mosquitoes. They “helped” me hike faster than I would have liked on the final 2-mile uphill, and I was happy to sit down inside my tent.
