Start/Finish: Crawford Notch
Miles: 9.45
Elevation gain/loss: 3832
We headed out into the driving snow at 11am. The snow continued long enough to coat the ground and then stopped, though the clouds remained low and occasional precipitation continued off and on throughout our hike. We made good time over to Mt Tom and Field, though Willey took a bit longer. The descent off of Field past Avalon seemed longer than it was, since I was eager to get on the road towards my last peak to grid out October. I was already doing hiker math, trying to figure out how late I’d get home, since I needed to drive another 4 hours after my last hike. We finished at 3:30pm and I rushed off towards Sawyer River Rd while my friend headed home.
