I snagged a rockstar parking along the road to the lodge, right next to the telephone pole marking the start of the parking area. I geared up and jogged the dirt road to the trailhead. The lower, rocky part of the trail was a bit wet, but as I got higher, things dried out and/or froze. I made the summit in just about 90 minutes, hiking steadily the whole way, passing a few people on their way back down. I had the summit to myself and then enjoyed a methodical solitary descent, stopping to take pictures of the sunset colors a few times, drawn in by the awe-inspiring beauty.
