Summits: Hancock, South Hancock
Start/Finish: Hancock overlook
Miles: 8.95
Elevation gain/loss: 3048′
I met my friend Katie at the trailhead in the late afternoon and we headed out by 4:30pm, ready to make some good time. We wore spikes the entire way and the trail was set up for fast conditions – well packed but with a little bit of powder/softness for a small slide when going downhill. We made the summit of Hancock while there was still a bit of sunset light, and then headed over to South Hancock. Despite a forecast for windchill in the teens, the wind was remarkably still and we were quite warm in the high 20s actual temperature. We ran the descent off South Hancock and made great time back to the parking lot, for a bit over 3 hours round trip!
