Summits: Osceola, East Osceola
Start/Finish: Greeley Ponds TH
Miles: 7.06
Elevation gain/loss: 3409′
After a few days of rough conditions, I decided to still hike Osceolas because it was such a beautiful day. Sunny but cool, great conditions to keep the remaining snow crisp. Because I knew I needed to prioritize previously packed/popular snow and avoid marshy areas, I parked on the side of the road and hiked from the Greeley Ponds TH. The initial water crossing was a little high but still quite manageable.
The snow monorail was stable, aside from a few soft spots early in the climb. The snow and ice patches made for easier climbing than the wet rock, so I was able to make some good time. The trail between the peaks was in great shape and I really enjoyed my time up there. The views towards sundown were beautiful, and I made it back to my car before a headlamp was needed.
