After getting woken up by the Quebecois weekenders at 11pm by their full volume talking and use of white light headlamps in their bunks, I very firmly and politely told them that it was 11pm and they needed to turn off their headlamps. They grumbled a lot but that seemed to do the trick. Despite all of that, we slept well. We were up around 6am and out on trail by 6:45am.
We climbed up to Molly Stark’s Balcony, passed around Baby Stark Mountain, and descended to VT17/Appalachian Gap.
Then we climbed up to Stark’s Nest/Mad River Chairlift station and filled up on rain barrel water, having passed by Theron Dean shelter (water source was dry) on the way.
We climbed up past General Stark Mountain, past the turn off for Glen Ellen Lodge, and up Mt Ellen. We took a short break by the Castlerock Chairlift station before climbing up to Lincoln peak and then, finally, up to Mount Abraham.
Unlike our past peaks, we finally got a few good views up on Abraham. We had a nice snack and then shuffled and slid our way down the mountain, stopping off at Battell shelter for water. We arrived at Lincoln Gap right on schedule at 5:15pm, and my aunt and her partner were waiting for us to take us to their house and into town!
