I met up with a friend at the trailhead, and after making use of the porta potty, we headed out. It was a beautifully warm day with crisp blue skies, but we were glad to be hiking up Whiteface in the morning, before the sun hit the snow and it started to melt. At the summit of Whiteface, we had a snack and a break and then headed across to Passaconaway.

The climb up to the summit was a bit steep but we made it just fine, and then headed back down towards the trailhead. On the way out, everything had started softening up and we had to take off our microspikes because they quickly became giant ice/snow balls, with sticky wet snow gathering on them. Bare boots were the way to go for the return to the trailhead. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better day!
