I was awake at 5:15am and on trail by 6:15am. I made it to the summit of Suiattle Pass by maybe 10:30am and then descended forever to reach the Suiattle River. I walked over the bridge and hiked vaguely uphill until I arrived at Vista Creek around 4:30pm.
When I got to Vista Creek, I was the only one there. A few hikers went past and I chatted with three of them, one male NOBO PCT hiker and two young women section hiking WA. They all very much appreciated the beta on the set-up in Stehekin. One of the young women was kind enough to give me the phone number of a trail angel who often gives rides into Skykomish, after I mentioned that my Guthook app wasn’t working. Perhaps half an hour later, Tim and Elizabeth arrived to be my neighbors. They’re Seattle natives heading out on the PCT SOBO, hoping to finish as much as they can. They weren’t very talkative, and spent their evening reading on their phones.
I was surprised at how tired I was and found myself falling asleep while blogging around 7:30-8pm, so this was written the day after.
