I was up at 5:15am and quickly had one last shower before heading out. I was on trail by 6:15am, heading out of town. I made quick time of today’s miles, and arrived at my anticipated destination at 1:45pm, the last water source for 7 miles.
While there, I ran into Rebekah and Johnathan and they said they were planning to go another 12 miles. I continued onward, figuring that I would probably stop and camp at the next water source and catch up to them tomorrow. But much to my surprise and delight, there was trail magic at the dirt road right before the water source from two folks who hiked the PCT last year. They had supplies to make decedent sandwiches, chips, soda, Gatorade, water, candy, muffins, and fruit. They even had plastic bags to take food to go!
I hung out there sitting in a chair for probably an hour, half an hour before Rebekah and Johnathan got there and then another half an hour while they snacked. With that energy resupply, I felt up to tagging along with them for another 6-7 miles. We pushed onward from 6pm to 8:15pm when we arrived at our evening’s campsite. I ate a snack of Doritos and Oreos and then went to bed, falling asleep around 9:30pm.
