GaiaGPS track
We left from the trailhead at 8:10am, having secured the last remaining parking spot in the lot. We were surprised at the number of people at the trailhead, but the trail itself wasn’t too busy. We made the ledges by 11:30am and the summit by 12pm. We didn’t linger at the ledges due to the 20-30 MPH wind gusts making it chilly, and we didn’t stay at the summit long either, as there was a large crowd at the summit tower. We descended a hundred yards back at the campsite area and at lunch there. We then descended, getting back to the car by 4:10pm. On the way down, perhaps a mile shy of the summit, someone’s dog almost bit the person in front of us, just barely missing the person’s calf due to the length of the dog’s leash. The owner wasn’t particularly concerned and didn’t remove their dog from the very center of the narrow trail until we insisted. It was a bit of excitement that we could have done without!
