Start/End: Appalachian Trail crossing, Grafton Notch, ME
Miles: 7.02
Elevation gain: 2762′
There was 2-3 inches of snow this afternoon, so the roads were a bit slick and sloppy so my drive to the trailhead took a bit more time than I’d anticipated. The parking lot in Grafton Notch was plowed, and I quickly parked and threw on my snowshoes. I was glad to see that Old Speck had been broken out by at least 3 other people before me. Snowshoes were needed, but it wasn’t a hard trip.

I hiked up along the AT, past the Eyebrow trail, and up the ridge, until I finally hit the spur trail for the summit. I took some pictures of the fire tower, but decided the climb up wasn’t worth it, since the summit was socked in by clouds. I turned around and hustled back the way I’d come, arriving back at the parking lot 3-1/2 hours after I started.
