Start/end: Waterville Valley ski area

We started out early, leaving the trailhead by 6:45. We hiked up to the summit and then headed back down. On the way up, we had some nice views, with blue sky and sun. By the time we made it to the summit, the mountain was in the clouds.
On the way down, we passed by two dozen hikers on their way up. At the trailhead, I was very glad that we’d left early, since the nearby parking lots were completely full. As we drove out of the ski area, it became clear that to park after the ski area opened would involve adding a 0.5 mile walk to the hike each way.
