I parked on the side of the road with a handful of other cars by Pine Bend Brook trailhead. I debated spikes versus snowshoes and was glad I decided to go with spikes. The soft snow had frozen over the day as it got colder, and the trail was a frozen sidewalk. I made quick time of the approach, passing 4 people heading down, and made the first summit in less than 1.5 hours and the second summit in just around 2 hours. I took sunset glow photos at Middle and then descended as quickly as I could, making the round trip in under 4 hours, despite the -22 windchill along the ridge.
