I woke up at 5:20am, after falling asleep at 9:30pm. I had a decent night of sleep, hunkered down behind some bushes. I stayed in my sleeping bag for a while, until the sun came up, because it was in the low 30s/10 with windchill, with winds gusting up to 40 MPH.
On my descent, I met Dwayne and a few other thru-hikers starting their ascent out of Cajon Pass. I enjoyed a little trail magic at the Swarthout canyon rd cache and kept motoring towards town. I made it to the highway and the McDonald’s by 11am.
I enjoyed $15 worth of food and then figured out my next steps. I went over to Cajon Pass Inn and they let me check in at 12:30pm. I availed myself of the laundry and their hot tub, chatting with other PCT hikers staying there. I went to the nearby gas stations for dinner, ending up at Subway for the majority of my dinner. I went to bed pretty early, eager to wake up the next day and head into LA for a flying trapeze class at TSNY-LA.
The next day was lovely, with a Lyft to the San Bernardino train station, Metrolink train to LA Union Station, and then a Metro ride to get to Santa Monica Pier. I had my trapeze class, then went grocery shopping for dinner and breakfast. I maybe overdid it a little, but I was able to either eat or bring home everything I bought. The morning after, it was an early start, with my flight to Boston departing at 5:30am. And back home I go!
