After rising early, I headed out from Lincoln Woods. I took the left for Black Pond and then followed the bushwhack to cut down on the creek crossings, since water was running well. Once I intersected with the trail again, the mud and damp trail increased. A few of the crossings took creativity to cross with dry feet, but I managed it, despite seeing some folks wading across.
It was quick work to make it to the Brutus bushwhack, and then follow it up to the summit. On the way back down, some sections of Brutus were degraded and slippery. As I headed back towards the trail, I passed a number of later risers heading for the summit. The return trip was uneventful, and I was back at the car by 1:30pm and decided to grab lunch in town.
