Summits: Starr King, Waumbek
Start/Finish: Starr King TH
Miles: 6.84
Elevation gain/loss: 2841′
After finishing up work for the day, I headed to the trailhead. The approach was very washed out with huge potholes and large rocks but I avoided scraping the bottom of my RAV4. Waumbek was in excellent shape – there was ice starting around 3200′ and consolidated snow from Starr King over to Waumbek summit. It was a super highway, and I had one of my fastest times for the route today! It was perfect weather and it was a delight to finish in daylight with plenty of time to spare and be in a t-shirt and shorts! A great start to the weekend.
