Summits: Cannon
Start/Finish: Cannon Tram parking lot
Miles: 3.7
Elevation gain/loss: 2300′
Despite being exhausted from the back to back Presi/Pemi, I managed to convince myself to get coffee and a breakfast sandwich and then huff and puff up Kinsman Ridge Trail to Cannon. As usual, the shorter distance takes longer, because the elevation gain is the same. The upper portion of the trail was horribly muddy and flooded, but I just accepted my feet were soaking wet and sloshed through. While it was heavy humidity and thick clouds for most of it, I got a few views through the shifting mist. I was glad to be heading south before noon.
I took advantage of an early finish time to drive out to the AT in the Berkshires and pick up my friend Cryptic at the end of their Long Trail thruhike, being a hiking buddy for that challenging first day off trail.
