Summits: Moosilauke, South Peak
Start/Finish: Moosilauke Ravine Lodge
Miles: 8.1
Elevation gain/loss: 2625′
After an early night, we packed up quickly in the morning and headed to the Ravine Lodge. We met a great group outside of the lodge! So many amazing people showed up to celebrate my adventures: Eric, Alex, Matt, Rebecca, Fyvie, Stephanie, Cryptic, Logan, and Toby. I’ve connected with each of these people on my long path to completing the NH48 4000 Footers grid, and it was special to share this with them.
After putting snacks inside and doing a round of introductions, we headed up Gorge Brook trail. It was a bit hot and humid but it was almost perfect at the summit – just a bit of smoke to create a haze on the mountains. We spent time at the summit, enjoying the amazing weather and visibility. Then we decided to head back via Carriage Rd to Snapper Trail, stopping for an out-and-back to South Peak. We took our time, soaking in the sun and enjoying each other’s company. It was a relaxing and magical way to close out an era.
