I set out from the hostel and drove the half-hour to the Glencliff trailhead. I started out hiking around 3:30pm in microspikes. I passed through a field and marveled at the crisp blue sky.
I ascended through the trees until the trail intersected with the Carriage Road trail and the spur trail to South Peak.
I switched out to snowshoes, since the wind had caused more snow to accumulate along the ridge. I made the summit of Moosilauke just around sundown, and then descended back the way I’d come.
Near to the trailhead, back in the field, the stars were outstanding.
