After a smooth flight and successful baggage retrieval, my friend picked me up from the airport last night and we drove 2 hours to a campground part way to Hart Pass. We set up our tents and got to bed around 11pm. Then we were up at 5am and on the road by 5:45am.
We traveled the 3+ hours to the trailhead, including 45 minutes on a narrow, pothole filled one-lane dirt road, taking a few pit stops along the way. We packed up our bags and headed out on the PCT by 9:55am. We made good time, stopping for a 15 minute lunch break around 1pm, and arrived in camp at 4:30pm.
We found a nice spot and got settled in. Today’s high was perhaps 68 degrees, and this campsite has a substantial breeze, making it chilly. By 7pm, it was 47 degrees here, and is forecast to get down to 41 tonight. Tomorrow should be sunny with a high of 65 and a low tomorrow night of 39.
