Start: Guyot campsite
End: 13 Falls campsite
Miles: 10.9
Elevation gain/loss: 2839’/4797′
Little Engine and I were up at 6am and out on trail by 7:15am. We went over Guyot and took the AT over to Zealand and then came back, resuming our hike over to South Twin. We ascended South Twin, dropped our packs, and then headed over to North Twin. We tagged the peak and then headed back to South Twin and down to the hut. We took a break at the (closed and dry) Galehead hut and then headed down to the spur trail for Galehead mountain. After we summited, we descended the 2.1 miles to 13 Falls. With no water between Guyot and 13 Falls, we had run out of water before we arrived and were pretty dehydrated. It was in the 70s today, so everyone was sweating quite a bit.
We arrived around 5:30pm, and snagged the last available spot within the campsite area. All of the people who arrived after had to find spots along the river. We quickly set up our tent and then headed down to the brook to filter some water and find a swimming hole. We had a lovely albeit icy cold swim and then went back to camp to finish setting up the tent and make dinner.
