Start: Lou Beverly Lake Junction
End: campsite at bridge over South Fork of the San Joaquin River
Miles: 16.6
Gain/Loss: 3228’/4780″
We woke up around 5:30am and were on trail by 6:45am. We climbed up towards Selden Pass, taking a breakfast break at Marie Lakes on the way through. We then descended from Selden all the way to MTR. A trail ride on horses and mules passed by us as they climbed towards Sally Keyes Lakes for some fishing. We got water at Senger Creek and then headed down the last descent towards MTR. The last mile down the side trail was fairly steep and our knees were really tired by the end of it.
We arrived around 12:45pm at the ranch. We retrieved our bucket and picked up more fuel for the stove, and charged our phones. We headed out around 2:30pm, and made it through the canyon to a campsite by the river by 6:30pm. The sun and heat was brutal and kind of kicked us in the teeth. We decided to stay the night and not push onward, since that would require a 700′ gain.
