I was nervous about this hike, because it was one of my first winter hikes where I had to turn around before making the summit; I’d had to break trail the entire way. But this time, the trail was broken out from the parking lot to the peak, only requiring spikes.
It was overcast and cloudy, with a hint of sun towards the beginning, which I savored. Because of the freeze-thaw conditions, the brook crossing was a bit challenging and unstable, and I managed to dunk my foot on the way across and the way back. I made good time and only needed my headlamp for the last 15 minutes of the hike.
