I flew into LAX last night, and traveled to a local airport hotel to spend the night. The airport hotels were significantly cheaper than other LA hotels closer to Union Station, and I knew the area already. My hotel even had a little Cafe where I could buy a fresh pizza for dinner.
After a flurry of public transportation from my hotel by LAX starting at 4:30am, I started hiking south from Walker Pass at 1:30pm, after getting a ride with Tie Dye from the Inyokern bus station.
I took one 10-minute break in the shade of a rock. I saw two people in an OHV and some lizards, but that was it. I pushed onward until 7:15pm, struggling to stop or slow down. I tried cowboy camping tonight, in a little hollow. Cowboy camping was fine, though I was a little damp when I went to bed so my sleeping bag ended up damp too. The hollow was a bit colder than other areas, and that made getting up in the morning a little challenging.
