Start: Fitzhugh Gulch
End: campsite on a cliff with a view of Mt Shasta
Miles: 38
Elevation gain/loss: 7690’/5650′
I was up at 5:40, and out by 6:15am. It was a wicked hot day, with a high of 96 actual and 100+ in the sun. Many of my miles were very exposed, with no shade to be had, and I also had a 12-mile water carry to boot.
I chatted a bit with Dill Pickle (nobo LASHer) along with 2 others. I got to camp by 7:45pm, and chatted a bit with Red, a NOBO thru-hiker sharing my tent site with great views of Shasta.
I sustained superficial blistering on two of my toes from the intense heat and my heavy sweating, but managed to stave off any other more serious issues.
