I had a short but solid night of sleep cowboy camping in Rebecca’s backyard and was up at 5:45am after a late night. I packed up and hung out until 7:50am and then headed to the Red Moose Cafe for breakfast; they had a patio so I got to eat at a restaurant for once! Maybe 10 minutes later, Stella showed up and I invited her to eat breakfast with me. We had great conversations over food and then we headed to the general store for resupply. We said our goodbyes and then I headed out of town. I hiked most of the way up the road before someone stopped to let me ride the rest of the way in their pickup bed. I was back on trail by 10:30am.
I took my time today, enjoying a few good rests and chatted with folks. I passed on trail beta about the burn section to 52, Blender, and King, since they were all individually anxious for information. The trail was smooth and the day was warm but not nearly so hot as it’s been; it was a pleasant change of pace.
I decided to stop and make camp at 8:15pm and tried to enjoy the epic sunset views as I ate dinner and set up my tent while pursued by some of the most relentless mosquitoes so far this trip.
