Start: campsite on the ridge 1.4mi south of Meadow Lake Rd
End: Donner Pass Rd/Donner Summit
Miles: 20.3
Elevation gain/loss: 2746’/3783′
I was awake at 5:30 and on trail by 5:55am. I made 9 miles by 9am, helped along by fierce clouds of mosquitoes. I chatted with Warranty, Groot, and Birthday Boy at a spring and filled them in on Sierra City and the burn section. I made it to the Donner Summit trailhead by 1pm and immediately caught a hitch with Will, a retired but still active ultra athlete.
I met Blue and Ash Potato outside of Safeway and we chatted about the upcoming northern sections as I ate and they repackaged resupply. I went over to the outfitter, grabbed some bug spray and permetherin, bought a few things from Rite Aid, and then went back to the Safeway for my full resupply. My very kind friend from Reno then picked me up around 5:45pm. I get to slackpack tomorrow, so I’m very excited!
