After my Garfield –> Flume traverse, Toby picked me up from Lincoln Woods and we went back to our motel. I dropped him off, refilled my water, and headed over to the tramway parking lot at Cannon for a quick summit. I raced the sunset toward the summit; I didn’t make sunset but I arrived on top with time to see the brilliant orange sunset glow from the summit tower. After taking some photos, I strapped on my headlamp and descended in the dark. I passed one person descending and one person ascending, but otherwise, the mountain was quiet. This hike reminded me that I do enjoy sunset and night-time hiking, and there are benefits to early sunsets this time of year.
