Start/End: Sawyer River Rd winter TH
Miles: 13.64
Elevation Gain/Loss: 4239′
Peaks: Carrigan
After sleeping in my car overnight, I was up at 5:30am and hiking before 6am. It was chilly in the pre-dawn air, but once the sun came up, the temperature became comfortable. Along the ridge, the wind was still gusting ~20 MPH but slowed down even while I was up there. By the time I headed back down, the wind had died down and it was fairly still. By the time I made it to the foot of the mountain, I needed to remove layers. It was warm enough (~45) that I ended up in short sleeve with no gloves! It was a quick hike back to my car after that, with the access road melted down to sand and a bit of mud.
