Summits: Cannon
Start/Finish: Cannon Tram parking lot
Miles: 3.7
Elevation gain/loss: 2300′
After driving up to NH this morning and picking up my friend Cryptic, we headed up Kinsman Ridge Trail to Cannon. It was a testament to the drought conditions that the upper portion of the trail wasn’t muddy. It’s the first time I’ve ever hiked through here without getting my feet caked in mud. We dodged around the dozens upon dozens of tourists to climb the tower at the summit, and they looked sideways at our sweaty hiker selves. We were happy to leave the tower and head back down to the quieter portions of the trail. We got back to the parking lot around 3pm, found Toby, and all went for an open water swim across Echo Lake. After that, we got ice cream and camped out at Hancock overnight.
Peak storytelling with zero mud in the plot twist. 👏 A Cannon climb that stayed dry, dodged the tourist circus, and finished with Echo Lake + ice cream? That’s how you summit in style—high gains, cool heads, and a sweet descent all the way around. 🏔️🍦
