Start: Mt Rose Summit trailhead
End: Brockway Summit trailhead
Miles: 22.9
Elevation gain/loss: 2982’/4734′
After a lovely zero day in town, I was up at 6:15am this morning. I had a quick breakfast and then ordered a Lyft to the trailhead. I arrived at the trailhead by 7am, prepped my gear, and then headed out on trail by 7:15. I climbed past Galena Falls and then up to the summit of Relay Peak (10,330′), the highest point on the TRT.

The trail then passed by the side trail for Gray Lake and eventually, went over Mt Baldy. I arrived at the Brockway Summit trailhead at 2:30pm, though it took me another 20 minutes to snag a ride into Kings Beach. I was in town by 3pm and ended up taking the bus the mile back to the hostel, since my body was very tired of walking.
I only have two more days of hiking and I’ll be done with the TRT. I’ll be glad to finish; I’m tired. Tomorrow morning, a friend from South Lake Tahoe is going to pick me and my backpack up and drop me off at the Mt Rose Summit trailhead and bring my backpack back to the hostel in South Lake Tahoe, so I don’t have to carry it.
