I was up this morning around 6:30am, packed up my bags, had a quick breakfast, and then headed out to the trailhead, arriving by 8am. A friend from South Lake Tahoe had been willing to pick up me and my backpack, drop me at the trailhead, and then drop off my backpack at the hostel, so I didn’t have to carry it today. I was very glad for the lighter pack today, since I carried 3 liters of water with me, as there was no water on trail except in the first 3 miles of my day.
I passed by Marlette Peak, Marlette Peak Camp, and Snow Valley Peak during my day, before the descent to Spooner Summit trailhead. Today’s views were superb and I really enjoyed my walk. For a few miles, I chatted with Brian, a TRT thru hiker from Alabama.

I arrived at the trailhead by 3:45pm, but it took me more than half an hour to hitch a ride into South Lake Tahoe, despite the very busy 4 lane road. I suspect it’s because it’s a holiday weekend and people are traveling. However, I was all checked in at the hostel by 5pm. I’ve done laundry and had dinner, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s final hike!
