Trailhead: Tunnel Brook South, Benton, NH
Companion: Little Engine; Albee
Miles: 4.8
Elevation gain: 1357′
GaiaGPS track
We started out from the road at 9:30am, after getting up at 7am, having breakfast, packing up, and then driving an hour to the trailhead. We debated trying to drive closer to the trailhead down the dirt road, but the signs noting construction, ‘gate ahead,’ and ‘road closed’ persuaded us to park on the road and walk in. We ended up having awkward conversations with a local wearing a MAGA hat walking his bike along the road to go moose sighting at a lake. Thankfully, we split off for our hiking trail after only a few minutes. We saw 3 other people on our hike, and it was so quiet by comparison to yesterday’s hike. We made it back to the car just before noon, and headed towards home.
