Trailhead: Starr King trailhead

Elevation Gain: 2757′

I started out from the trailhead around 3:45pm. It was strange to see the ground; both times I’ve hiked Waumbek have been in winter conditions. There were more rocks than I had expected!
It was a bit cold and some snow was forecast for the overnight. I made good time to the top of Starr King and then hoofed it over to the summit, and then turned around to do it all again in the other direction. I made it most of the way back down before I had to turn on my headlamp. I arrived back at the car by 6:35pm, and headed to the hostel to make dinner and go to bed early to get up early for my Presidential Traverse!

Love the photos from this hike. It looks a little scary in those woods, but in an enticing way.
