I was up at 5, and on trail by 5:30. The obnoxious hikers from last night were loud very late, and then they were up being loud by 5:15am. Last night, one of the other men tried to get them to quiet down; after he left, they used alt-right/incel insults to complain about him.
I knocked out 9 miles by 9am. Along the way to town, I met Robin Hood, Waffles, and Grandma (lovely queer bunch). Robin Hood is from Salem, NH; I’m hopeful that we might connect for a hike this fall.
I got to the road at 11:50am. I set up my sleeping bag to dry in the sun while I waited for my ride from Kellyfish. I was at the hostel by 12:30pm. I had time for a cold shower and laundry before I accompanied Kellyfish to Shasta; while she taught swim lessons in the lake, I did my resupply shopping and went to the outfitter since my water filter had slowed down dramatically and popped my Platypus bag.
I enjoyed a nice evening at Kellyfish’s hostel, hanging out with three other thruhikers staying the night.
