We started at started at Prediger Rd at 5:50am. We made it to the psychological half way point of Stony Clove Notch around 12:45pm, and arrived at the car on Spruceton Rd at 7pm. This bushwhack was much easier to follow than Scar Ridge. The underbrush was much lighter, and it seems like it’s a more common bushwhack, so more feet have tramped down a herdpath. There were also some orange ribbons to follow; it was still challenging, but it make it a lot easier to find my way through the thicker areas of forest. After working remotely at The Notch Hostel, I headed out to the Drake’s Brook trailhead. I was on trail by 3pm, and decided to head up the easier Drake’s Brook Trail to the intersection with the Sandwich Mtn Trail. It only took me just over a hour to hike the 3.2 miles; it was sooo much easier than my last attempt where there was 3 feet of untouched powder.
